Are you thinking of doing up your home? Have you been DIYing up a storm over the bank holiday weekends? Then take a break, make a cup of tea and start getting some more interior inspiration – courtesy of some of your favourite stars!

That’s right – we’re looking at celebrity home decor and how you can use their style in your home. And believe us – that is easier than you might think.

Go for a relaxed beach feel like Sarah Jessica Parker

This bedroom is instantly relaxing, thanks to the bright white furnishings, accented with some brightly coloured accessories. This room is very livable, too, as white furnishings can be bleached when they get dirty – as I’m sure SJP knows, with her three children. Best of all, designer Eric Hughes admits the curtains are from IKEA!

Mix fabrics and styles with Gerard Butler

Okay, we’ll be honest: to get the full look of Gerard’s New York loft, you will have to buy a loft in Manhattan and spend four years with professional interior designers. But you can take inspiration from his style. In this photo, we can see how he mixed and matched not just fabrics, but styles as well. There’s a solid wood table, a sofa covered in linen and leather armchairs, which are all rustic and natural. Then there are some ornate fabrics on the cushions, ottoman and one chair arm and a delicate chandelier in the middle, all punched up with some tropical indoor trees. The colour palette – dusty, natural shades – ties it together and really allows the trees to stand out.

Go minimalist like Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer has always loved a good minimalist interior. In her Bel Air home, she takes a light wood floor, white walls and square furniture and slices through it with a glossy red fireplace. The accented feature really knocks the pretentiousness out of the room, which is crucial for an interior design that wants to be both clean and inviting. To get this look yourself, pick out white furniture with simple, square lines, paint your walls white and pick out a feature. Then go to town with the colour there.

Totally flip minimalism on its head with Drew Barrymore

Drew’s kitchen takes the idea of white-room-with-accent-colours and completely flips it around. Here, everything is a cool colour, apart from the accent pieces. They are white. White dishes contrast with a bold green wall, the white refrigerator breaks up the blue cabinets and the white chandelier brings you back to a wooden table loaded with pastries. This look requires commitment to the idea, but if you pull it off, the room will have bags of personality, and everyone will love hanging out there.

Cram it all in and hope it works like Lindsey Buckingham

Legendary Fleetwood Mac guitarist and singer Lindsey has a lot of influences, and his tastes range all over the place. So it makes sense that his interior design style would be similarly bohemian, cluttered, thrown together and perfect. His walls and floor are simple – a taupe paint and a not-too-dark-but-not-too-light wood panel just let all the pieces, fabrics, flowers, knick knacks and furniture work with and against each other. He doesn’t try to reign it in, but instead gives each piece its own place. The birdcage doesn’t cover up any artwork. The artwork hangs just above the piano top. Essentially, each piece gets a little bit of space, so although there’s a lot to see, it never really gets too complicated.

We hope you’ve got some good ideas from this selection of celebrity home decor. Remember that it is the idea behind the decor – and not the price tag – that is important, and you should have just as stylish a house on just a fraction of the budget.
