It’s summer, so that means wedding season. And even if you’re not running all over the country (and the world!) watching friends and family get married, you’re probably being invited to your fair share of cocktail parties and other lovely events.
If so, you’re probably in the market for a pretty new dress or two. So we’ve checked out all your favourite high street shops to find you the best high street occasion dresses.

This dress is elegant and perfect for summer, plus it references florals without being too obvious with. Even better, the colour will suit just about any skin tone, so everyone will look great in it!
Rosie dress from Little Mistress by Look Magazine – £58
Again, this dress looks floral without being too overt. But it also looks like a party with confetti floating down from the ceiling and pooling on the floor. Too cute!
The ASOS lace insert sheath dress – £45
There is something so bold and yet so simple about the dress. The colour is eye-catching, and the lace makes it both demure and just a bit racy. Best for an evening do in the city, we think.

With its cap sleeves, pencil skirt, soft blue floral pattern and boat neckline, this is just a classic wedding guest dress. Best of all, it’s on sale.
Floral chiffon maxi from Kate Moss for Topshop – £180
Maxi dresses can be controversial for a wedding guest. You absolutely must avoid whites, blushes, laces or anything too floaty, just to avoid clashing with the bride. You simply don’t want to look like you’re trying to compete. With this dress, you’ll look lovely without looking like you’re trying to upstage the wedding party.
