A little ghoulish face paint will add the finishing touch! Take a look at the tutorial.

2. Lego Brick made from a Cardboard Box

A truly British Halloween may call for spooky costumes, but the less scary American version is gradually gaining more popularity over here. If your youngster loves their Lego, what could be better than this easy peasy Lego costume? You’ll need a cardboard box, paper plates and a lick of paint! Here’s how it’s done.

3. Mermaid made from Card

She might not be especially waterproof but this mermaid certainly looks lovely! Best of all, she’s made entirely out of string and cardboard! This is a slightly more labour intensive costume, but if you’re feeling ingenious and frugal, it’s certainly spectacular! Here’s how Cardboard Collective did it.

4. Frankenstein made from Old Clothes

Create your own Frankenstein’s monster in mere minutes with some old clothes and some safety pins! Slap on a little green facepaint and do a little creative hair styling and your little monster is ready to go out and cause havoc. Here’s Playfully Learning’s super simple tutorial.

5. Harry Potter from an Old T-Shirt

An old tie, a stick (wand) from the garden, their school uniform and a wizard’s robe made from an old adult’s t-shirt is all you need to abracadabra your kids into Hogwarts’ students! Pieces by Polly has all of the resources you need to make your own in less than 15 minutes. Alacazam!
