Chatham, Kent – The Man in Green

Man in Green- Kent

The Invicta had a tragic past prior to becoming a Bingo Hall. It was converted from its original purpose as a cinema, into a shelter during the second world war for those families who had lost their homes during the blitz. Tragedy struck when their new shelter was hit by the smae bombs that had driven them from their homes. One adult and three children died during the attack.

Since the 40’s there have been reports of strange noises, but it wasn’t until the 70’s that anything strange was sighted. Then came ‘the Man in Green’. A clairvoant was called in, and identified the green man to be “Bill Malan”. Research proved Mr Malan to have been real, and due to his position as commissionaire at the cinema- he had worn a green uniform! Fortunately he was no ghastly ghoul- in fact Mr Malan was reported to be very protective the children who stayed in the converted hall.

Rosehill, Surrey – The Grey Man

Grey Man- Surrey

Built in the late 1930’s this hall was also converted from a cinema. For many years there had been several reported sightings of a “Grey Man” until finally the proprietor agreed to allow a team of ghost hunters spend the night in 2011 to get to the bottom of the mystery.

The ghost hunters held a seance and attempted to commune with the spirit using a crystal ball, and those present claim to have seen strange inexplicable lights move across the walls, hear strange noises and doors slam. The ghost hunters claimed that the Grey Man was the spirit of a bingo player who had committed suicide in 1965.

McLaughlin, South Dakota – Eerie goings-on

Footsteps-South DakotaThis bingo hall was built on an old burial ground, and is so spooky many of the staff have quit citing spookiness as their reason for leaving. Staff have heard the cries of a ghostly child, and footsteps echo throughout the halls even after everyone has left the building. Creepy!
