It may be set in a farming community in Yorkshire, but Emmerdale sees more action than any rural village we know of. Still, lately it has been bringing lots more twists and turns. Read on to discover some of the biggest twists and turns of recent episodes, as well as a spoiler or two.
Last week on Emmerdale, a long-simmering story line finally began to come to the boil. Jai Sharma had spent a long time – and much of his money – searching for Rachel, who is the key to getting his son Archie back.
He’s hired a private investigator and spent a lot of money on Sam’s search, all to no avail. Something exciting then happened: after running an appeal in the paper, a guy called Mark has popped up. He claimed to know where Rachel was, and he seemed to have photographic evidence to back up his claims. Jai began making plans to join Mark, who agreed to show him where Rachel was living.
Charity and Declan, who were behind Rachel’s disappearance, feared what would happen if Jai found Rachel, so they got Lisa to tell them where Jai was going. As they made their way there, Jai and Mark arrived at an estate, only for Mark to demand £10,000 for showing Jai which flat Rachel was staying in.
In perhaps the biggest story line, Belle and Gemma began fighting over Sean (for some reason, they both want him). “Have a nice life,” Belle sneered before pushing Gemma over, causing her to strike her head. On her way home, Gemma passed out by the cricket pitch, and when she failed to return home, her father Dom launched a massive hunt for her.

**SPOILERS BELOW**
Although Gemma is found and rushed to hospital, she is in a very critical condition. Dom, regretting spent the night with vicar Harriet, maintains a vigil by her bedside. Harriet, for her part, regrets convincing Dom not to call and check up on Gemma, convinced that had he trusted his gut, they could have prevented her lying unconscious for so long.
All of this regret is for nothing however, as Gemma tragically passes away. The police begin questioning Belle about the events leading up to Gemma’s being found unconscious, and so she turns to her mother, Lisa, to admit what really happened. She is (appropriately) wracked with guilt and wants to confess everything to the police and Dom, but Lisa is uses everything she has to convince Belle to keep quiet.
But will it work? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!
