Robin Hood Bingo - Detailed Review

Head into Sherwood Forest

Robin Hood Bingo is a standalone bingo site that was launched in January 2012 and has quickly established itself as one of the most popular sites on the internet.  Robin Hood Bingo is unsurprisingly fronted by…a cartoon Robin Hood character.  The green-suited, arrow-firing mascot can be found on just about every page of the website but will he give you his bounty or will he actually rob from you to give to the poor?

To start playing at Robin Hood Bingo you must first complete a relatively straightforward registration form, which includes; personal details like your name and date of birth, address details, contact info and a couple of other fields.  The entire process should only take a few minutes.

Bonus Loot

When you first open your new Robin Hood Bingo account, you may not receive loads of free bingo cash but you do have access to loads of free bingo games, which are accessible to non-depositing players for the first two days following your entry into the band of merry men (and women).  There is a first deposit bonus to take advantage of though, which is a £50 bonus.

There are seven free bingo rooms in total, each with varying play requirements.  The rooms are; Newbie Freebie, 1st Deposit Freebie, Daily Re-Deposit Freebie, Bronze Daily Freebie, Silver Daily Freebie, Gold Daily Freebie and Platinum Daily Freebie.  However, details of the times and jackpots of these free bingo games is a little hazy…so we contacted support.

Helping Hand from the Merry Men?

No matter how good a bingo site looks, no matter how enticing the offers seem, when things go wrong and you need to get answers, the support staff are the deal makers or deal breakers at a bingo site.  Unfortunately, in the instance of Robin Hood Bingo, their support staff are most definitely deal breakers!  The poorly trained staff were more interested in getting rid of us than they were interested in helping us.  Initially, our support enquiry was sent via the live help chat facility on the website but apparently this was the ‘wrong’ live help and unhelpful Jennifer could do nothing but offer me a bonus if a I made a deposit.  The conversation went as follows:

you: Hi. I’m trying to find out some info about your free bingo rooms but the information on the website is both confusing and conflicting. Would you be able to help?

Jennifer: oh hun these details i am not aware of. i suggest u to contact support and they’ll guide u through. best by phone

Jennifer: The support team is here 24/7 so please don’t hesitate to give them a call with any urgent inquiry.

Jennifer: Toll Free If you are from the UK

Jennifer: Call: 0808-238-9158

Jennifer: Or send them an email at support@robinhoodbingo.com

Jennifer: I hope it will get solved quickly! 🙂

you: I thought this was support?

Jennifer: hun, im here to give u bonuses if u’re planning on making any FUTURE deposit in the next 24 h. would u like so?

you: I clicked the ‘live help’ button, not ‘live PROMO help’

Jennifer: hun i told u what i can help and what not

Jennifer: i suggest u to give them a call

So, with no help and very little legible conversation from live HELP, we decided to call the support number.  This is when things went from bad to worse.  Robin Hood Bingo, like many online bingo sites and most UK service providers, has its call centres in some low-cost foreign location.  This was instantly a problem because a). The line was shockingly bad, with appalling reception and b). The operator could barely speak English.

After a 20-minute call to Calcutta, or wherever else in Asia the call centre is based, we established that even Robin Hood Bingo support staff could not answer our questions regarding the free bingo rooms and games.  This really is a bad way to do business.  If the company were based in the UK, our Gambling Control Commission would have something to say about the poor levels of information offered about the games and rules.  However, Robin Hood Bingo trades out of Gibraltar, so they don’t really have any pressure from or obligation to their regulators.

Out in the Forest

Robin Hood Bingo can be played from your laptop or desktop PC and also from your mobile.  This means that you can play from anywhere, whether you’re on the train, in the cafe or riding on horseback through Sherwood Forest (providing that you can get a signal).  You have access to all bingo rooms and many of the side games from most smartphones.  Although the software has been optimised for Android and Apple devices, it can be played from Windows Mobile devices, Blackberry phones and other modern web-enabled mobile devices.

The Globalcom/888 bingo software that’s used by Robin Hood Bingo delivers a choice of 75-ball and 90-ball bingo games, along with a wide choice of the Dragonfish back catelogue of bingo side games and instant win games.  Some of the biggest online slots titles on the internet can be played at Robin Hood Bingo, including; Fluffy Favourites, Bejeweled, Cleopatra and X-Factor: Steps to Stardom.

Conclusion

If I were the Sheriff of Nottingham, I’d send the men out after Robin Hood Bingo too.  Sure, on the surface everything seems legit.  However, as soon as you need to dig under the surface of the bonuses and promotions, things get a little more awkward.  It’s not quite stealing from the rich to give to the poor but it’s certainly no way to run a professional gambling operation.

Owners And Licensing

Robin Hood Bingo is owned by Newco Entertainment Ltd and all games are operated by Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Limited.  The Gibraltar Regulatory Authority licenses the bingo games and side games at Robin Hood Bingo.
