If visible collection boxes and t-shirts are anything to go by, Help for Heroes has grown very quickly to become one of the UK’s best loved charities. Rightly so. It seems as if lots of people were keen to show their support for our troops and to try to help repair some of the damage they suffer in our name and now have an outlet. It’s wonderful then to see Tidy Bingo continue their commitment to supporting British soldiers with a new link-up with the charity.

Tidy and the Troops is the name of the game that now raises funds for Help for Heroes and it has an interesting history of its own.

Believe it or not, bingo is a very popular game with British soldiers from the barrack room to the front line. Tidy heard about a game in Afghanistan that was about to go under for the want of a few simple pieces of bingo equipment. They raced into action and saved the game, throwing in some rather nice prizes for the players into the deal.

That was the start of a link with British troops in action that saw Tidy and the Troops born. The original intention was to raise cash for little extras to send to serving troops in the regiment Tidy originally helped out. However, as anyone who has a friend or relative in the forces will know, the practicalities of keeping in regular contact with serving front line troops got in the way.

Tidy wanted to keep the link going though and are now offering players the chance to raise money for the popular military good cause.

They want you to have fun while you help out too. There’s no need to donate, all you need to do is play Tidy and the Troops. It’s a game that runs in the Tidy Cupboard, a special room for Tidy players only that opens every Tuesday and Friday evening from 7pm to 11pm.

Tidy doesn’t take a penny for running the game. Everything that’s raised from the 25p ticket sales is returned to players as prize money or sent to Help for Heroes. You can keep up on how much has been raised just pop along to the Tidy blog – it’s currently just over £300.

It’s rewarding for players too, with one line worth £10, two lines winning £15 and a full house netting £25.

Sign up with Tidy today if you haven’t already and head for the Tidy Cupboard.

Help For Heroes is a registered charity, number 1120920 and Tidy Bingo’s event ID with Help for Heroes is 2014030700009133
