Made in Chelsea

We love the twists and turns of Made in Chelsea – even when they are whining about their super-privileged lives. But will it work in New York? We look at the news, the rumours and some of our favourite moments from Series 7, so you can decide.

Channel 4 decided to create a spin-off, called Made in Chelsea: New York, which ostensibly follows the cast as they live and work in The Big Apple. “Our show is about having fun and working hard,” Rosie told The Sun in an interview.

Of course, it’s hard to know just how much working they’ll actually do. The cast for the six-episode series has yet to be announced (though Lucy did tweet “New York City… We coming for you #micnyc” recently), so if it’s Spencer and a few ex-girlfriends, it might just be more cocktail throwing and insults than a busy day down at the office.

And if Stephanie Pratt shows up, you know Spenny will be in for some trouble. After all, she had no trouble giving it to him full-force in London. In New York, he’d be on her home country.

Still, producers are staying pretty tight-lipped about the new series, only saying the series will run later in the year. Rumours suggest Lucy, Andy, Spencer and Jamie will all be States-side, and despite all the bad blood and drama that has gone on in that little group, everyone is insisting the show will be glamorous and classy. “New York has a scene buzzing and is sophisticated enough to rival Chelsea, so it feels like the next natural step,” MiC executive producer Sarah Dillistone told Radio Times. Rosie even described it as “glossy and civilised” in her Sun interview.

We wouldn’t worry too much, though. If Lucy, Spencer and Jamie are going, there’s bound to be bad behaviour and outrageous confrontations galore.

So what do you think? Will Made in Chelsea: New York work? Or will the tried and tested formula fall flat outside of the royal borough? Let us know in the comments.
