These real-life stories will leave you outraged, astounded and maybe even a bit amused.
Café charged mum to warm her baby’s bottle

Gemma Cawte wanted to treat her five-year-old, her new baby and herself to a nice lunch, so she spent £10 on lunch for herself and her daughter. But she got a nasty surprise when she asked staff to put her son’s bottle in some hot water. They insisted she’d have to pay 80p – the price of a cup of tea!
Staff at the café at the Riverside Country Park in Gillingham insisted it was a health and safety issue, but a spokesman for Medway Council didn’t seem to think there was a problem with heating bottles, saying “We have asked them to reconsider charging customers for the warming of baby bottles.”
A plucky cat tried to go on a police ride-along

At 4am, Sutton PCs Sophie Heywood, Kevin Monk and Liane Walker got a call, and they ran out to the police car to respond. When they opened the doors, they quickly found someone else wanted to come along, too. A cat jumped in through one of the open doors.
PC Monk, consummate professional that he is, tried to pick up the cat to move it out of the car, but the kitty had other ideas, jumping into the front seat and clinging on to the wheel and looking out on to the road!
Clearly, this cat really wanted to catch some bad guys, but its dreams had to be put on hold. The constables got the cat out of the car and got on with the business at hand. Still, the cat seemed eager to join in. PC Walker said, “when the cat had been removed, it just sat there staring at the car as if it wanted to come back in.”

Gold flows from the taps in Montana – and residents aren’t happy!

It sounds like something out of a fairy tale. Whitehall, Montana, local Sharon Brown was doing the washing up when she found flakes of gold mixed in with the soap and the water. “She pulled the plug to let the water out and it was glistening, gleaming little flecks,” her husband Mark said.
Had she been granted a wish by a genie? Had her fairy godmother worked a little magic? Far from it, they have said. “If we’re getting heavy metals that you can see with the naked eye, what else might be in there,” Mark asked.
Locals claim the gold leaked into the water supply after a mining company contaminated the water, but an official for the company said it wasn’t their fault. In the meantime, residents will just have to get used to having gold on tap.
What happens when adults go back to high school to pose as teens in real life? Jail.

In films like 21 Jump Street and Never Been Kissed, adults pose as teenagers to crack drug rings or find a great news story. But in real life, those sorts of antics lead to jail time, not romantic kisses and happy endings.
At least that’s what Charity Johnson discovered when she plead guilty to a charge of failure to identify. The 34-year-old posed as a 15-year-old girl, and she enrolled in a high school in Texas. But she was eventually found out, and she was given an 85 day jail sentence, as part of a plea bargain.
