Mamma Mia is the world’s most romantic musical

That might seem like a strange claim: sure, the musical ends with some romance and a wedding, but surely that’s not enough to earn it the title of most romantic musical? Actually, it’s what happens behind the scenes that makes this show so special. Stars of the film Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper famously had a long-term relationship after filming together, but no fewer than 10 couples have met and eventually married after working on the show. Between them, they already have six kids. Mamma Mia indeed!

Imagine finding out that the “adults” supervising the sleepover your child attended were less than reliable. Then imagine just how bad that could be. One Pennsylvania mum experienced that first-hand when her daughter returned from a friend’s house – with the word “b***h” and a smiley face tattooed on her arm. Apparently, the 12-year-old girl said that her mother was okay with her getting a tattoo, so Randall Charlton III, who is 33, and Melissa Becker, 30, pulled out their home tattooing kit and went to work. Of course, they just took the girl’s word for it, because the mum called the police as soon as the girl came home and both Charlton and Becker admitted no one bothered to get the mum’s permission. Both Charlton, a registered sex offender no less, and Becker are facing charges, and there’s no word on whether or not the girl will have the tattoo removed.

Mattias Schlitte

German Matthias Schlitte was born with an unusual genetic defect that gave him a massive right arm. Today, it is 46cm wide and is perfect for his chosen career – as a professional arm wrestler. He got started aged just 16, when he went to a bar hosting an arm wrestling competition. He defeated every opponent, and 10 years later, he has won 8 German championships and 14 international ones. He also beat an arm-wrestling robot! Clearly, he was never going to be one to let his gift go unused!

Britain’s youngest professional skateboarded is just 10 years old!

Finley Kirkby

At age six, Finley Kirkby of Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, was given his first skateboard by dad Stephen. In just a week, he could do an ‘ollie’, a trick that involves jumping into the air without the rider using their hands. Over the next four years, he became such a natural at skateboarding that his parents have needed to enter him in competitions for adults, just so he has a bit of a challenge, and he’s earned a sponsorship with Rollersnakes, a skate shop.

Of course, his natural gift doesn’t keep his parents from being nervous. Mum Emma told the Daily Star that when he takes on the 14 foot ramps – which are more than three times his height – she ends up “[standing] further away and end up peeking through my fingers.” No wonder. It must be terrifying to watch your child do that, given he’s only learned to tie his shoes a few years ago.

That’s it for this edition of the best real life stories from around the web. So what do you think? What would you do if your child came home with a tattoo?
