During the past week, several British gossip magazine have been speculating that Kate Middleton is expecting again, which has led to two London bookmakers suspending bets on her potential pregnancy.
The betting shops Coral and Ladbrokes stopped taking bets after there was a flurry of activity, earlier this week.
On Monday, Coral stopped all bets on Kate announcing a pregnancy by the end of July. “When bets come in at once late in the evening, it sets alarm bells off,” a Coral representative said. “It’s been quiet and then all of a sudden, a week before Prince George’s birthday, this happened. The bets sealed our opinion that someone knows something we don’t.” (Odds were at 10-1, but shot down to even money before betting was closed.)
Ladbrokes said they saw a great deal activity, as the odds recently dropped on a Kate pregnancy announcement from 4-1 to 8-11. You can also bet on what they will name this potential second child at Ladbrokes, with the names Victoria and James currently in the lead at 6-1 odds.
The story has come from Kate’s alleged “friend” Jessica Hay, who reportedly told an Australian newspaper that she had heard the news from “several different friends of theirs”, and there would be an “official announcement in weeks.”
