Heavy rock music and bingo are not normally mentioned in the same sentence. Certainly, the two activities evoke very different images.
However, in Somerset, rock music lovers are being invited to a Rock and Roll bingo night.
Indeed, this coming Saturday (August 2nd), Mardons Social Club are hosting a bingo night that will have an unusual twist.
The club are inviting people along to have a fun night out, with this form of bingo which involves songs being played, rather than numbers being called out.
Jamie Long from another local club, Midsomer Norton, said:
“Rock and Roll Bingo has proved to be a lively and popular twist on the traditional game of bingo and has been embraced across the country in pubs, clubs and holiday parks.
“The game is played in the same way as regular bingo, but instead of numbers being called, music clips are played. If the title of the song is listed on your card, just mark it off and once the card is full, just yell ‘rock and roll bingo’, it couldn’t be simpler.
“We hope that the revival of interest in carnivals, the new route and its return to Midsomer Norton High Street, will encourage local supporters to get behind all carnival clubs and support their fundraising efforts.”
