Ghost Pirates Review
Shiver me timbers! Dating way back to ancient 2009 (ancient in terms of gaming standards), Ghost Pirates is still going strong and remains one of the staples in Net Entertainment’s lush repertoire. Riding on the wave of pirate popularity that in recent years took off with Pirates of the Carribean (with which this games shares much of the visual and aesthetic elements), this is a slot game of quite a few surprises: multiple betting ways and levels being some of them, all leading to some pretty exciting cashouts. But let’s take it step by step.
Characteristics
Sporting five reels, three rows and 243 paylines, this video slot game was a pioneer of its kind: it was the first Net Entertainment game to offer multiple betting ways. Namely, you can choose between playing on 3, 9, 27, 81 or 243 paylines, but also between five different betting levels. The symbols are all closely related to the theme of pirate demons, so naturally we have crossed pistols, anchors, maps and compasses, cannons, talismans and pots of potion (or is it poison). The protagonists of the story, Peggy Rotten, One-Eyed Ed, Mad Monkey and Polly the Parrot, all members of the sunken crew who came back to haunt the treacherous waters, are a high value symbols. Game logo is a wild, while a treasure chest (duh!) is a scatter.
Set against the backdrop of bleak sea-bound ship in the nocturnal haze, the visuals are spectacularly adorned by plethora of piratey items and insignia, like scrolls, animated torches, crossed swords and an occasional skeleton looking like they mean business of wanton savagery. The surrounding are alluring and dazzling as they are, while the reels themselves radiate with design precision and imagination. The soundtrack is an array of spooky, atmospheric noises, only interrupted by a up-tempo jingle when a winning combo is hit.
Special Features
High number of betting options presents a player with more refined control of his investments and can account for a more realistic expectations. Betting on a maximum amount of paylines can and will result in bugger payouts or, in case of triggering bonus rounds, will grant more free spins. Speaking of, to get to free spins you need to hit at least three scatter symbols – with the side note that the first scatter must always appear on the first reel. The number of spins varies from 10 to 25, depending on number of treasure chests and number of paylines played.
Conclusion
Nothing says yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum like taking your bettings and trying to multiply them on a dangerous sea-bound quest. So trust your navigational instincts and steer the goodship Luck into troubled waters and come away victorious with Ghost Pirates!
