Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, you can give back the easy way this Christmas simply by playing at Charity Bingo, for every £20 you deposit, they will donate £1 (this won’t change your balance) to Keech Hospice Care, a children’s and adult hospice based in Bedfordshire.
Charity Bingo have run many charity campaigns in the past, to date raising over £5000 for the likes of The British Heart Foundation, WhizzKids and Cats protection running month long campaigns. For Christmas 2014 Charity Bingo is trying to make a huge difference to Keech by running a two month long campaign going until the end of December, in the effort to raise £2000 to provide for the care of terminally ill children. Charity Bingo offer the unique opportunity to play fantastic bingo games, whilst helping a charity at no cost to yourself.
So far almost £700 has been raised for Keech which would be enough for 2 years of memory boxes, which the charity build to help the families of those in their care remember them. Memory boxes contain all sorts of things from photos, tickets to special events, to letters written to the children for them to read at particularly sad times.
The children build memory boxes with their parents, so that when their parents pass they can look back on them and remember the good times with them. The children find these boxes very precious, children that have used them before have said:
“I have added to my memory box over the time since dad died. Whenever I find something I think he might like, I put it in the box. It makes me feel still connected to him, and helps me to remember the warm and caring man that he was.”
At Keech palliative care for children is one of the areas where much of their resources go, they provide end of life care for children, help and support to the families, advice on controlling conditions and catered therapy among a huge number other of service. The nurses at Keech are loved by the children and their families. This is Orla and her nurse Louise
Orla’s parents are very grateful saying that “Keech nurses are exceptional people without their help on those dark days I doubt we would still have Orla here with us.”
Keech said that “It costs around £700 a day to sponsor a child’s bed in our children’s hospice; your donation makes such a difference to a family needing the care at a difficult time.” So far players have helped raise enough to pay for a full day of care, but with a little over £1300 to go until the target, there is still plenty of time to get involved and give back by doing what we love best and playing bingo!
