Buzz Bingo is not only popular online; they have a massive 119 clubs around England and Scotland (formerly known as Gala Bingo clubs) all busy with bingo daubing players looking to strike it lucky, but Saturday 25th May, two men entered a bingo hall in Liverpool looking to win themselves big cash – without having to buy any tickets.
The two masked, helmet-wearing opportunist thieves decided that sitting down in the hopes of winning was a little too much to ask, so they decided to take cash after threatening club staff. Unperturbed by the many players already sat at the tables waiting for the bingo session to start, the thieves entered the Stonedale Retail Park on East Lancashire Road in Croxteth at 7:25pm, just minutes before the main bingo games were about to start.
Many staff members were threatened in the frightening incident before the men fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. The motorbike used in the robbery was a red ‘naked’ style bike which sped off in the direction of East Lancashire Road. An investigation is underway to bring the masked men to justice. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Bingo Hall Raids:
Surprising enough, this isn’t the first time a bingo hall has been raided. On 16th December 2018, two men casually made their way into a Buzz club in Rubery, Birmingham and demanded money. Staff were threatened with a weapon before handing over a large sum of money.
Fast forward to January 2019 and another former Gala Bingo club was targeted, but it wouldn’t be a happy new year for this clumsy thief. I’ll set the scene; it was a cold January 10th morning at approximately 5:50am, when a 40-year old man decided to try and break into the hall in Irvine. There were no calls for a house or ‘false call’ – just a call to the emergency services when the bungling thief fell through the roof! And the icing on the cake? The injured criminal made the call himself…
…as Del Boy Trotter would say; ‘what a plonka.’
