Many online bingo sites are beginning to make the move over to mobile bingo, which definitely seems to be the way the gaming industry is heading. It was reported that searches for mobile bingo has risen by a huge 50% in the last year and this trend is only set to continue as more of us take to our smart phones and mobile devices, to bingo on the go.
Cozy games and Mecca Bingo were two of the very first sites bring us the ability to bingo on our mobile phones. Tombola Bingo and now Sky Bingo have also followed suit, but none of them ‘yet’ feature all the bingo games on their mobile apps, which are available to play at their online sites.
Take Tombola Bingo for instance. These guys are literally ‘bingo mad’ and offer a vast array of different bingo games to play at their online site – But currently you will only find two different variations to play on your mobile device, bingo 90 and bingo lite.
We have to say, graphically wise Tombola have done a good job with their mobile app. Game play is clear and concise and it is very easy to purchase tickets and fund your account. The only annoying feature is the chat window. When you have chat open it takes up half the screen, which makes it difficult to chat and play bingo at the same time.
Sky Bingo seem to have the right idea, launching no less than 11 bingo rooms and a few slot games on their mobile app – at least this does give you a bit more variety to choose from. But still, the chat feature is not great.
Mecca Bingo are also moving in the right direction with their mobile offering, recently launching a new mobile bingo app and bringing us a good variety of games to play including Britain’s Got Talent Bingo. Other bingo games available to play from Mecca on your mobile device include 90 ball bingo, cashline, X Factor and Bin-glo.
Bingo has always been a very social game and unlike casino, chatting whilst you play bingo is a very important factor for most bingo players. None of the bingo apps we have tested have quite got this right yet. The mobile screen is just too small to be able to play bingo and chat at the same time. However on a tablet device like the iPad, it is much better as the screen is bigger.
Mobiles are great when it comes to playing casino / instant games, but in terms of bingo because of the screen size they just do not work nowhere near as good as when playing bingo on a laptop of PC. It may well be, that the mobile device route may be better served in the case of bingo going down the tablet route – unless bricks as phones come back in fashion.
Casino sites are far advanced in the mobile app area, with bingo sites currently coming in a very poor second at the moment– but lots more bingo operators have started to take note and are currently playing catch up.
