If you were to take a quick glance at some of the recent promos from the online bingo world, you’d be forgiven for thinking losing is the new winning. You wouldn’t have believed it perhaps, but then again, in an industry where it’s become popular practice to give away real cash amounts for absolutely nothing in no deposit bingo offers and free bingo games, it seems the traditional laws of logic don’t always apply to online bingo. Sure enough, cashback incentives are becoming big news amongst bingo sites, helping online bingo players to console themselves a little when they don’t manage to make the top spot. So why is it that more and more bingo sites are offering cashback schemes for us bingo losers? And should we even question it?! Cast your mind back a mere year ago, and whilst there were some bingo sites offering us cashback schemes (notably Wink Bingo and Posh Bingo), they were few and far between. Fast forward and we seem to find ourselves posting about a new cashback offer every couple of days. From the fab new schemes at Cheeky Bingo and Think Bingo to some more original ideas like Virgin Bingo’s cashback escalator promo, which offers rising cashback throughout the week for player’s losses, it seems there’s plenty on offer to turn your bad luck into a little bingo bonus.
And the cashback scheme itself is changing as well. The focus now seems to have also shifted away from your regular cashback scheme (although like we said, places like Cheeky Bingo are more than happy to offer 5% cashback on your losses) to promos like Foxy Bingo’s “Bingo Blues” bonus, or the recent Cashback Escalator offer from Virgin Bingo. Running for a limited time only, these promos offer higher cashback amounts, encouraging us players to keep on trying, knowing full
The thing is, cashback schemes are always gonna be welcome amongst bingo fans, and as the online bingo world gets bigger, its naturally gonna follow that as the number of bingo winners increase, there’s a whole growing army of bingo losers cursing their bad luck behind them. More to the point, when you consider some bingo sites have in excess of 2 million players and others will have around 1,000 players all competing for the same game, a bingo site is left with a dilemma. Sure, they can make 1 or 2 people happy in a game, but what about the 999 others?! And this is perhaps why online bingo operators are trying to win over us losers.
And try they have done. Think about when sites first introduced the idea of a 1TG or 2TG pot for roomies that were so close, yet so far away from winning a full house on a game of bingo. Or when bingo sites like Wink Bingo started up their super no risk Frisky Friday game, which offers £500 to the winner, and the player’s money back (albeit in bonus funds) if they don’t scoop the jackpot. Or the recent introduction of 5-line bingo, which offers more ways to win in online bingo than ever before and has seen a surge at bingo sites like Wink Bingo alongside plenty of others.
These promos, which are focused on us losers as much as the victors are a way of extending that winning feeling to us lot, even if we haven’t quite won. And whilst there are things like loyalty schemes that technically reward players for playing at a bingo site, nothing compares to getting a little consolation prize, particularly when we are undergoing a spot of bad luck. And this is the real beauty of the cashback scheme. Not only do operators help to keep their players coming back for more, but we also feel a bit of a boost as well. Which means really, everyone is a winner after all!
