Cocaine and guns seem to be a new feature of bingo today.

Do you remember the days when bingo was a nice quiet, peaceful game? I’m sure you do. Even at my tender age, I certainly do. Back when I played with my Nan as a kid, I recall it was always a peaceful and joyous occasion. However, looking at the bingo news over the last week – I can’t help but wonder: what the hell has happened?

Just in-case you have no idea what I am talking about, I’ll elaborate for you: last Wednesday, at one bingo hall in Ireland, a 50-year-old woman was busted for dealing cocaine! I know people like to kick-back with a drink to enjoy the beautiful game, but Class-A drugs! What is this madness?

And just when you thought that was crazy enough, on Sunday, hundreds of players in a Mecca Bingo Hall in Bolton were disturbed from playing by a loud bang, which turned out to be armed robbers! The thieves reportedly stole £5,000. None of them have been caught yet. Bingo players must all be hoping the police get them soon!

Why do people bother us? We are only trying to enjoy ourselves, be sociable, and play the great game -maybe have a drink (alcoholic or otherwise!) Lord only knows why people feel the need to deal Class-A drugs in such places, let alone rob us?! My old Nan would be turning in her grave.

As bingo was of game of fun, but now it seems people are overlooking the game for other activities at different bingo halls and also while playing bingo games. The only way we can make it more professional is to have bingo halls having control over the players playing the bingo game.
