Bingo.com has taken another step towards becoming a fully fledged social bingo operator, with the beta launch of its Trophy Bingo game for iOS, Android and Facebook in selected markets.
The limited roll-out of the new title is part of a 4-6 week testing period before which the app is expected to be made available globally on Facebook, the Google Play marketplace for Android, and in the App Store for iOS devices.
Jason Williams, CEO of Bingo.com, says the brand is retaining its gambling strategy focus within Europe, but is also looking to use social bingo as a means of monetising its North American audience.
“Americans and Canadians are some of the most avid bingo players in the world, and now Bingo.com has an innovative new product to offer them,” he says.
“We are very excited about this new addition to Bingo.com’s business strategy.”
The North American theme continues as the app’s developers, Roadhouse Interactive, are based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
CEO James Hursthouse said for the developers that they expect to see players enjoy some of the unique gameplay elements introduced in Trophy Bingo, with further development of the title to come in the future.
Trophy Bingo is not a conventional bingo game; instead, it offers social network users and app-based players a free-to-play storyline mode built around the concept of a dog show.
As the player continues to win, they progress through the rounds of the show, with the ultimate aim of winning a blue ‘best in show’ ribbon.
Bingo.com continues to provide conventional online bingo via its website, which is owned by Unibet Group as part of the Parabol Games network.
Its software is powered by Virtue Fusion, a network you may know from other online bingo sites including Bingos UK, Kiss My Bingo, Bet365 Bingo and Betfair Bingo.
We currently list 24 sites powered by Virtue Fusion and, while Bingo.com’s chat room and other games run independently, there are certain link bingo games that run across the network.
That can lead to a greater number of players taking part, as well as the chance of much larger jackpot payouts if you get lucky.
Players within Europe should also soon have access to Trophy Bingo, as the new social app rolls out worldwide and the beta testing programme comes to an end.
We’ll be watching closely to see whether Facebook members, and iOS and Android smartphone users, embrace the new play-for-free game – or whether its storyline style will prove too much of a departure from traditional bingo gameplay for the purists.
