When Your Luck’s In – It’s In!

A fortnight before Christmas in the port town of Sheerness in Kent, a 75-year old great-grandmother sat down at King’s Bingo for an evening of bingo fun. Little did she know but she was about to win a large sum of money – again!

The anonymous Sheerness local, who has three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, called house on the National Bingo game. The bingo caller on the evening, Clive Cornelius, confirmed her numbers and announced to the club that she had won £50K – £49,000 more than the great-grandmother thought she had won. The whole club started to cheer…

…but she is no stranger to calling a full house on a Monday, nor is she a stranger to a jackpot win, all of which happen to be when Clive Cornelius is working! The lucky bingo dabber who has been playing bingo for almost six decades, won her first jackpot back in April 1999 when she scooped an impressive £107K in cash – on a Monday when Clive was calling those numbers.

Commenting on her win she said. “Anybody who’s thinking about going to Bingo, just go for it! I always enjoy playing. It’s not just about winning, though it’s lovely when you do, it also gets me out of the house.”
