The biggest online bingo brands on the market aren’t averse to doing something a little different to attract attention to their brand. There are hundreds of fantastic and effective bingo adverts out there, all attempting to show that their brand is the best but sometimes something bigger is called for and with the launch of 50-foot rubber duck down the Thames this month, all in the name of bingo, we’re not sure things can get much bigger. This isn’t the first time a bingo brand has done something a little odd in order to attract attention to their brand. Let’s first look in more depth at this rubber ducky story.
Jackpotjoy Japes
In the early morning of 11th December anybody passing the Thames would have beheld an extremely odd sight and probably would have thought that they were dreaming. A giant rubber duck, said to be around 50 foot tall, was seen sedately floating down the river as part of a mega publicity campaign for Jackpotjoy. The duck floated serenely past the o2 arena, Canary Wharf and even past Tower Bridge, with most onlookers wondering why it was there at all. The point of it all? Jackpotjoy’s attempt to make people smile again and attract people to their latest promotion.
Jackpotjoy explained that it was organised to coincide with the launch of their Facebook FUNdation project which ‘grants FUNds for daft ideas’. Jackpotjoy is looking for great ideas to get people laughing and smiling and of course, in the process attracting them to their site. This coincides with their current ‘Just for the Jackpotjoy of it’ promotional campaign. The giant ducky is one of the biggest bingo-related stunts in history and has taken advertising in the industry to a whole new level.
Foxy Beautification
The guys at Foxy Bingo have also stepped out of the regular bingo advertising arena and taken an innovative step in their promotion in the past. Their ploy has been to launch a number of health and beauty products, with the support of the cast of The Only Way is Essex and it appears to have been a hit.
Back in 2011, the Foxy team announced the launch of the interestingly named FurEver Fragrance. The new perfume was endorsed and launched by TOWIE star Lauren Goodger and in fact, Goodger was involved in selecting the actual scent chosen too. The product was available via Foxy Bingo as well as a specific online retailer and this was their first foray into the health and beauty industry and despite seeming an odd move as they decided to try again a year later. In summer 2012, they announced the launch of their Fur Real Fake Tan brand, with the support of another TOWIE favourite Lucy Mecklenburgh. The Tanning Gel was again available via Foxy Bingo and also on a specified retailer. It does seem like a very strange move by the bingo brand but it definitely worked as the exposure from working with the TOWIE team has seen more players arriving at their site.
The Foxy team has also been known to draft in other special guests to help their brand stand out from the crowd. During the Jubilee celebrations they drafted in their very own Queen impersonator and had her ride around in an exclusive white limo making appearances in both Liverpool and Preston. Their chosen Queen-a-like had been impersonating Her Maj for over 20 years so they clearly went for the best, again to try and show exactly how much they’re prepared to stake on ensuring their brand remains at the forefront of anybody’s minds when they think about online bingo.
What’s next?
It’s near impossible to even begin to think what will come next from the online bingo world. The big brands are constantly at loggerheads attempting to show themselves to be the biggest and the best. The innovative ideas and exciting stunts are only bound to get bigger and better although the super-sized rubber ducky has got to be one that is likely to be unequalled for a long while.
With so many brands on the market it’s essential for survival to try and set themselves head and shoulders above the competitors; adding value by creating unique marketing stunts to differentiate from the others out there, has got to be the best way to do this. Standing out is a necessity if a bingo brand wants to be remembered and in the long run chosen as the preferred site by potential players.
