Children at a school in Africa will soon benefit from a library, thanks to a bingo night hosted at a school in Derbyshire, UK.

A bingo night at a school in Derbyshire has raised money for a library to be built at a school in Africa.

The students from the Kirk Hallam Technology and Sports College, raised £1,102 for the Jandalala Primary School in Malawi.

Students at the school began fundraising in 2012, after being inspired by a talk their humanities teacher George Mwanza gave, about his home country of Malawi.

More than ten students were involved in organising the bingo night for Africa Education Aid.

One of the organisers, Ryan Parkes, said: “The bingo night was a great success and we raise more than £1,000 to go towards the library.

“We have heard that work has started and students and staff have decided to name it after our humanities teacher Mr Mwanza for all the help he has given us with the charity.

“So it will be called the Mwanza Gola Layibulare.”
