Rank group has recently announced that a total of 36 bingo clubs will be reopening from July 4th, but it will be very different from what it once was. The first major change comes with the number of visitors – there will be none of this turning up unannounced and expecting to play. A booking system will be in place shortly before the grand-reopening and unless you’ve booked, you won’t be playing!

The list of those clubs reopening can be found below, all of which are in England as Wales and Scotland have their own set of rules to follow. Wales is still controlled by its 5-mile travel restrictions, although, rumour has it that Mark Drakeford is set to lift this on July 6th.

If your bingo club is not on the list, you won’t have to wait long as Mecca Bingo revealed a phased reopening of the remaining clubs will take place sometime from the middle of July. We assume all UK venues will be opening form this point.

The managing director of retail at Mecca Bingo Jonathon Swaine, said; “We want to reassure the Mecca Bingo community that we are working together to take every precaution necessary to create a safe environment in which to play the nation’s favourite game. We’re also investing in new entertainment formats in our clubs, to give everyone even better experiences. We are excited to reopen our doors, welcome back our communities and hear ‘House’ called once again.”

Book, Sanitise and Have Fun:

Mecca has been working hard to keep you and the staff safe when the doors final open. The measuring tapes have been out so you can expect plenty of space between you and all the other players – it’s all very VIP! A crammed venue means less chance for you to win, so look at the reduced number of people playing as a blessing in disguise!

The popular online bingo site has added a little bit of humour to their opening guide by asking members to use this as a guide when social distancing “Imagine George Clooney lying on the floor between you and the person closest to you.” I’m sure if George really was on the floor, we’d all be joining him! Sorry, got carried away there for a moment! Some tables and casino games may not be in use, and there are sanitising statins in place for members to use as often as possible.

Contactless payments are preferred, although cash will be accepted. Food and drinks can be ordered through your mobile or any electronic bingo device you’re using. It’s important to remember to be kind! There are lots of changes everywhere and it may take a while for people to adapt, so Mecca Bingo are asking you to be patient and tolerant of others.
