Mecca Bingo Hit the One Million Mark for Marie Curie

Mecca Bingo, with the help of their members and staff have raised a draw dropping £1,003,744.82 (to be exact) at the time of writing for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

This is an outstanding amount of money to raise for charity and we are sure Marie Curie are very pleased.

Our bingo industry giants, Mecca and Gala have been synonymous with raising funds for some very worthwhile charities over the years. We have seen their employees go on all sorts of fund raising initiatives from climbing Mount Everest, bike rides at Blackpool, to sky diving out of planes and it seems all their hard work has paid off.

On the Blackpool charity bike ride in which eight Mecca team members took part, they raised £2,567.35. At the time, Membership Manager Andrew Fenton commented: “We were all absolutely thrilled to raise so much money for Marie Curie – it certainly made the tired legs and sore bums worthwhile! Like the bike ride, we have many other fun events planned for the rest of the year.”

Mecca Bingo has issued a statement at their online site, thanking everyone for all their help. A massive chunk of the money raised has come from their ‘Everyone’s a Winner’ promotion and their Marie Curie Cancer Care Bingo weeks which they continue to hold between 1st and 7th of every month.

During their Marie Curie bingo week, they run five special games every day in their aptly named ‘two little ducks’ room. These games take place at 1.17pm, 3.17pm, 5.17pm, 7.17pm and 9.17pm. Mecca Bingo donates 40p out of every £1 spent on these special bingo games to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

It does not cost you anything extra to play and you can still win some great cash prizes, so it is a win, win situation all the way for you. Tickets cost 25p each to purchase and there will be guaranteed prize pots of £150 up for grabs on each of the games.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides end of life care to terminally ill patients in one of their nine hospices situated throughout the UK or in their own homes. Just £20 provides one hour of nursing care.
