Play tombola

The most popular game currently being played at tombola is Bingo90 – as quoted by one of their chat moderators the other day.

Tombola, CM-ricicle: 90s is our most popular game by far.

This got me thinking! With so many other different game variations available to play online nowadays, what makes traditional 90 ball bingo stay on the top spot?

Traditional 90 ball is played in the UK and all over the world and it seems to remain the game of choice for the majority of bingo players. It is thought to steam from earlier lotto type games in Italy played way back in the 1500’s.

The game of bingo is said to have migrated to England and other parts of Europe such as France in the 1700’s.

90 ball is a nicely paced which brings us three chances to win with each game that is played. With 3 goes at winning, this makes the game that little bit more exciting. These games usually last around 4 to 5 minutes depending on what site you are playing at, so they help to make your money last longer as well.

Funnily enough a game called ‘Tombola’ was apparently used in nineteenth-century Germany as an educational tool. They used tombola to teach children a number of different things which is said to have included multiplication tables, spelling, and even history.

Tombola as we know it today however is completely different. You would associate ‘tombola’ as more of a feature stall at a fair. In fact Tombola Bingo did go down the ‘fun fair’ ride route a few years ago and went on a massive TV advertising campaign promoting themselves as a bit of a ‘fun fair’ game site, but they were slammed by the ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) for their ads and were ordered to take them off air.

A TV advert for an online bingo site or any gaming product come to that, must not be seen to appeal to children or people under the age of 18 in any shape or form. As you can imagine, a bingo advert which dictated a fun fair theme was always going to test the boundaries of this rule. Tombola at the time was trying to advertise their ‘roller-coaster’ game, but unfortunately they had to change tact after a complaint was made regarding their advert.

It is no wonder that bingo90 is the most popular game at Tombola, as there are big prize pots waiting to be won on every single game that is played and this is without all the link games they run every half an hour and the huge progressive jackpot which is attached to all their bingo90 rooms.
