Some of you regular players of JackpotJoy Bingo will know that the guys recently hosted a big summer bash in the form of their Queen’s Garden Party. And it seems to be kicking off a new trend from the team at one of our favourite online bingo sites – namely the online bingo meet up. With other sites getting in on the action as well, it seems offline is the new online when it comes to online bingo – so what’s it all about then?! Read on for our special report.
Of course, the great tradition of bingo players meeting up ain’t no new thing. After all, we’re talking about bingo here, whose roots are firmly planted in the grand tradition of bingo halls and friends meeting up to grab some gossip as much as the money. But online bingo has always struggled to match the social aspect of club based bingo, despite huge advances in technology allowing players to connect and chat in a virtual space.
Which is where the online bingo meetup comes in. If we do a little history lesson here, it’s perhaps no surprise to find Foxy Bingo near the beginnings of the online bingo meetup. From their Ladies’ Day events through the much missed Foxy Bingo cruises (where players could buy tickets to spend a few days getting away from it all and playing a few games of bingo), the guys were a dab hand at making sure their roomies got some face time in a game that is notorious for being, well, a little faceless.
Other bingo sites like Posh Bingo also caught onto the idea, offering players the chance to meetup as part of prize packages that included fancy meals out and nights on the town. But then everything went a bit quiet, and it seemed that online bingo meetups were soon to be replaced. It’s not necessarily coincidental that at the time, other sites like Wink Bingo were introducing social networking features, and other bingo sites were stepping up their chat features, allowing players to connect with each other on their own terms.
But fast forward a few years, and it seems there’s a bit of a revival when it comes to meeting up with fellow roomies outside of the chatroom. And JackpotJoy Bingo seems to be spearheading it big style. From the recent Queen’s Garden Party to their new promo to take no less than 50 of their roomies out to Tenerife for a grand holiday, the guys have even launched their Social Club page on site. Roomies can sign up for special events and parties, with plenty of free tickets available through selected JackpotJoy Bingo games.
And it’s not just JackpotJoy Bingo that is getting on board. Ladbrokes Bingo is also hosting a one time only party for their roomies at London Zoo in September. If you fancy getting involved, there will be promos a plenty throughout August, offering players the chance to meet up with the team and each other in a very special setting. Oh, and there’s a free bar as well.
So why the sudden revisiting of these meetup offers?! Well, especially when it comes to the grander online bingo sites, socialising can often be the last thing on your mind, as there are just too many bingo games to grab your attention away from other roomies. But we know that bingo players are a sociable bunch, and it seems almost logical that a site would invest a little dollar into making sure they all get a chance to meet up once in a while. After all, the winning is important, but bingo has always been a social game. And for once, it’s great to see online bingo sites really stepping up to the plate and offering players a little something extra away from the computer screen.
