Senior citizens in bingo bust up Canterbury Times

A 90 year old and a 92 year old were cautioned by police after sparring at a bingo club.

Police had to be called out to a bingo hall following a fight between two warring OAPs.

The two women, aged 90 and 92, have been involved in an “on-going feud”, and this was the second time this year that police were called out to deal with the pair at the Connaught Bingo Hall in Herne Bay, Kent.

The two warring OAPs have been warned to stay away from each other.

Police officers were called out to the club following a complaint of harassment, when one of the pair got in a “two and eight” when a punch was reportedly thrown.

A counter allegation of harassment was then made.

The rows are believed to be regarding a dispute over each woman winning on fruit machines which the other had put money in.

An unknown source told the Herne Bay Times: “If one woman wins on the fruit machine then the other one starts calling her names because she has been putting money in the same machine.

“They just do not like each other. The feud has been going on for a long time. This time police were called again and the bingo hall gave both ladies a suspension.”

The two women previously had a bust-up in February, which led to a knock at the door by police but no arrests were made.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police has investigated an allegation of harassment following an on-going feud between two elderly women who attend the Connaught Bingo Club.

“Both parties have been spoken to and police will not be taking the matter any further.”

Connaught Bingo Hall boss, Tony Lynch, said: “From our point of view we have spoken to the two ladies concerned and the matter is now in the past.

“It is a private membership matter between myself and the ladies.”

The feuding OAPs have been told by police to “stay out of each other’s way.”
