Social bingo – online bingo played within a social network like Facebook – is a trend that’s gathering pace, and one new entrant into the market claims there are five main personas of player emerging too.
The claim, from 888.com‘s newly launched Facebook bingo brand Bingo Appy, is perhaps a little tongue in cheek, but their descriptions of different bingo-playing personalities might strike a chord with many people.
For instance, do you have more in common with Sir Alan Sugar, or the Duchess of Cambridge?
If your personality is closest matched with Lord Sugar’s, then it’s likely you see bingo purely as a profit-making exercise, play to win and succeed at doing so.
The Duchess of Cambridge, meanwhile, is a metaphor for those players who potentially see online bingo as a ‘guilty pleasure’, and are far from the loudest voice in the chat room.
Social bingo may be best suited for those whose personalities are similar to the singer Olly Murs, described by Bingo Appy as a ‘social butterfly’.
This character “plays for friendship, not winning, is very active in multiple chat rooms, and is well liked by many different people”, the company says.
If you are even more dominant in the chat – sharing personal news whether good or bad, and acting as the life and soul of the party – then your Facebook bingo persona could be Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon.
And finally, if your focus is even more closely on the statistical side of each game, based on the number of players, cost per ticket and potential jackpot, then your persona is former Countdown co-host Carol Vorderman.
Bingo Appy’s Kirsten Smith says: “The way we play bingo has changed drastically in line with emerging technologies, which is testament to how passionate we feel about bingo in the UK.
“It’s no longer confined to dusty bingo halls – we’re seeing an emergence of younger audiences who want to play bingo through social media.”
Bingo Appy have published an infographic to outline the different personalities of social bingo player – see below – and have also just launched their own Facebook bingo platform.
This includes access to real-money 75-ball and 90-ball bingo rooms, daily penny bingo games and a daily prize fund totalling £1,000, with a £200 jackpot in the Appy Dayz game.
It is published by 888.com, already has over 10,000 members, and offers incentives for those who refer a friend to sign up.
