Tombola Bingo‘s Cinco game lived up to its name – which is Spanish for ‘five’ – by paying out a five-figure sum to one lucky member of the site this week.

On Thursday April 4th, a £20,000 payout was recorded at 13:48 and, while the game’s name might have been particularly appropriate, the winner’s username for the Tombola Bingo site was ironically pessimistic.

After opting for the slightly bleak-sounding moniker of ‘notgoingtowin’, the punter proved that it is possible for a man to change his stars, defying fate – and their own forecast – to scoop the hefty sum on Tombola’s card-based version of bingo.

Take a glance at the Cinco jackpot winners’ table and you can see that the £20,000 top prize pays out roughly once a week, although June, October and November of 2012 all proved even luckier with 7-8 jackpot winners in each month.

In April 2013, notgoingtowin was the first big jackpot winner on the game, but April 6th saw the second of the month’s five-figure Cinco wins recorded, this time by ashanddrew, who clearly had a late Friday night as the win was timed at 03:16 on Saturday morning.

Playing Cinco is as straightforward as any bingo game – the only major difference is that your ‘bingo card’ consists of a hand of five cards, instead of a strip or board of numbers.

During gameplay, cards are dealt from an on-screen deck, and as you match them they are covered up in your own hands, eventually leaving you with three to go, then two, one and – hopefully – none to secure a win.

Jackpots range from £125 up to the top prize of £20,000 and, with a winner on average every week or so, it’s clear that it is very possible to win the biggest amount on this game, if the cards fall in your favour.

Stakes start from just 5p, giving you the chance to ease yourself into the game without breaking the bank, and you can bet up to 40p per hand in some rooms, unlocking the chance to go for that big-money £20,000 jackpot.

Cinco got a boost recently when Tombola Bingo linked all of its Cinco rooms for the first time during the Easter weekend of March 28th – April 1st.

During the weekend, a £10,000 five-card trick bonus paid out to xhart-of-goldx at lunchtime on March 29th, while laurza and mo2mymates brought the weekend to an end as midnight approached on April 1st, with wins of £250 and £1,000 in the last 20 minutes of the bank holiday.
