We love celebrity couples, but there’s something about seeing them on screen together that just makes us leap with joy. Maybe it’s seeing their chemistry first hand; maybe it’s that we can pretend we’ve got a glimpse into their actual relationship. Whatever it is, we love seeing these real life celebrity couples in film.

Mila and Ashton were on-screen lovebirds on That 70s Show. Back then, they were just really good friends: Ashton had yet to have one of the most famous May-December romances in the world with Demi Moore, and Mila hadn’t yet become famous for being one of the most approachable women in Hollywood. After Ashton and Demi broke up, he reunited with his old friend Mila, and sparks flew. Now, they’re having a baby, and we love watching the repeats so we can see the early stages of love.

Anna and Stephen met when they started filming sexy vampire drama True Blood. Their on-screen chemistry was instant, as was their off-screen chemistry. They’ve stayed pretty private, but they are going strong. They are married in 2010 and had twins in 2012.

Alexis and Vincent, better known as NBED and Pete Campbell on Mad Men, met on the set of the television show, when Vincent’s character fell for and had an affair with Alexis’s character. That led to their real-life relationship, and they were engaged in 2013.

Penelope and Javier met in 2008 when they were cast to play a tempestuous couple at the heart of the drama in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. They subsequently married in 2010 and now have two children. We like to imagine they’re as fiery and passionate as their characters were in the film, but in actual fact, they always look like they’re having great fun together, so they’re probably always laughing instead of arguing.

Only one good thing resulted from Daredevil: Ben met the Jen he was supposed to marry. She played his love interest in the film, and their own love blossomed as filming commenced. They married in 2005 and have three kids, and they seemed to have learned an important lesson from the days of Bennifer. They keep their relationship low profile to keep the intense media pressure away from their family.

She was the stunning girl who drove him to escape poverty, take on gangsters and win 20 million rupees – and her heart. He was the goofy looking kid who became a hero. Together, they made Slumdog Millionaire the international smash that everyone was talking about. We just couldn’t believe that such realistic chemistry was entirely down to acting, but Freida and Dev insisted they were just friends. And they kept the pretence up, almost convincing us, when Dev’s mother let it slip that they had been together the whole time. The world rejoiced, as they seemed to get their happy ending all over again.

Like most of the other couples on this list, Emma and Andrew met when they were cast as love interests Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker, respectively, in The Amazing Spiderman, the superhero reboot. They have kept such a low profile as a couple that no one suspected a thing until a paparazzo spotted them having an intimate date. Once the cat was out of the bag, however, they happily went public, posing together on the red carpet and at their film premieres.

Angie and Brad have the daddy of all “real life celebrity couples in film” relationships. The way they met was obsessed over – they co-starred in Mr and Mrs Smith when Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston. The breakdown of his marriage and their increasing closeness only fuelled the rumour mill. You know Team Jacob and Team Edward? This affair started the whole Team X trend, with people declaring themselves Team Jennifer or Team Angelina (though no one admitted being Team Angelina). With all that publicity, the film was bound to be a hit, and it was. Then everyone saw what could make someone dump Jennifer Aniston: Brad and Angie’s connection was electric. Although many predicted a quick end to their relationship, they have stayed together since 2005, had tonnes of kids and .

And in fairness to Jennifer, both she and Brad have said their relationship was coming to its natural end long before Angelina showed up. Which we totally believe.
