Dangerous NekNominate trend gets a socially responsible makeover – Meet RAKNominate

Random Acts of Kindness are replacing 12 shots of tequila in a charitable re-imagining of the recent viral drinking game NekNominate across the globe. Instead of downing dangerous quantities of alcohol, you are nominated via social media to perform a random act of kindness instead (#RAKNominate).

The positive twist on the original trend was inspired by Brent Lindeque, a South African with a social conscience. Thousands of others have now taken part in RAKNominate, the official Facebook page has had 23,000 likes so far. The founder of the Page, Robbie Matthews said “The response was really above any expectations we ever had, one of our favourites was a woman who left a shopping voucher under the lid of a baby milk formula box, so when the person that buys the formula gets home they find the voucher, a brilliant surprise.

We’ve launched an instant Kindness Generator, ready to provide RAKNominees with all the inspiration they need to do something good. At the click of a button nominees can uncover their own perfect way to ‘pay it forward’.

If i were to win, i would like to donate to AYME (the association of youth with ME) Sadly i know all too well what this illness does to people, as I have suffered extremely severely with ME for over 12yrs now, bed-bound the entire time. And AYME have been of so much support to me and my family throughout it. Not sure what we would have done without them, the reality is i may not still be here without them.
