Asian sports betting company 12BETuk have announced a two year sponsorship deal with Hull City Football Club, which has been described as “ground-breaking”.

The betting firm run online casinos, as well as a vast online sports betting service.

The deal is the most lucrative sponsorship Hull has had in their 110-year history, and will run until the end of the 2015/16 season.

12BETuk will be paying a seven-figure sum each year. However, senior figures have kept quiet about whether the deal is conditional on Hull staying in the Premiership.

Hull City commercial manager, Simon King, hailed the sponsorship as “a ground-breaking day for the football club.”

He said: “Having a global brand like 12BET with a great history of working in football is very exciting. This deal represents how far the club has come on the field and from a commercial perspective in the recent years. I welcome Rory and his team to the club and look forward to a strong future together.”

It is not the first time that 12BETuk have sponsored a football team before. The betting company previously sponsored Wigan Athletic’s shirts, and Crystal Palace’s stadium last season, as well as the Spanish side, Sevilla.

12BET Chief Executive Officer, Rory Anderson, said: “It’s an up and coming club and it’s a club that definitely has ambition. This is the big one for us. The club wants to move forward and that’s encouraging.

“’The Tigers’ give us a great Premier League platform to engage our target audience around the world.

“Steve Bruce has done a brilliant job in creating a vibrant powerful team that, on their day, are capable of beating anyone in the league.

“We’re looking forward to working with the club and the fans and can’t wait for the start of the season away at QPR.”

Earlier this week, betting firm Bet365 announced a huge sponsorship of the Premiership football side, West Brom.
