A British teenager is being held after by police in London after creating a bomb scare in Las Vegas.
The 17 year old called British police to say that there was a bomb hidden underneath a taxi outside the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas.
The boy – who has not been named – sparked a security alert in Las Vegas with his call.
Following his phone call, he was arrested an hour later by police in Sutton, south London, after police traced his phone call.
However, Scotland Yard had already passed the warning to American police, who went to search the site outside the casino.
The teenager has been released on bail until later this month.
The MGM Grand is one of several internationally famous hotels on the strip. It has just over 5,000 rooms and hosts events including major boxing matches and musical performances.
Las Vegas, home to world-renowned hotels and casinos, attracted nearly 40 million visitors last year and gambling venues on the strip brought in 6.5 billion US dollars in gaming revenue.
The security alert came on a day when some of the biggest stars of UFC mixed martial arts were at the hotel for a media day.
The complex had hosted gigs by Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and Tiesto over the weekend before the bomb hoax
