There is always a silver lining to every dark cloud, as one Manchester United found out after her team’s shock thrashing at the hands of MK Dons last week.
The lucky woman mistakenly tipped MK Dons to beat the Red Devils 4-0.
The Manchester United fan who is called Hollie Griffiths decided to use a £2.50 free bet she had earned to take a gamble on Manchester United’s Capital One Cup clash with the League One team MK Dons.
However, instead of tipping her team United to win 4-0, she mistakenly bet on MK Dons winning 4-0, and amazingly she ended up scooping the cash prize of £1,250.
She tweeted about her mistake before the game began, writing:
“Oh my god as if I won this on a free bet that I thought I was putting on united oh my god oh my god”. The tweet was then subsequently retweeted a lot after the match.
MK Dons took to the shock victory with two each from Will Grigg and on-loan Arsenal player Benik Afobe.
For most Manchester United fans this match was a humiliation that they would rather forget. However, for this lucky fan, it must be a night to look back on with a feeling of bitter sweet sadness.
