The British National Lottery has been slammed after winners with three lines won more money than those that had four lines on their tickets, reports the Daily Mirror.
In last night’s Lotto draw, a total of 236,389 people claimed a share of a £7,557,069 prize.
Those that won four numbers won £15, but bizarrely those that had three numbers won £25.
Many players were confused by by this, and several took to Twitter to express their anger at the Lottery.
One Twitter user, Kev Woodhead tweeted: “Four numbers on National Lottery t’nite is ten quid less than if y’get 3 numbers up. How’s that work then? Confused”
Another user, Matt Higgins sarcastically tweeted: “Lotto makes sense, get four numbers and win less than getting three”, while Paul Connor said it was an “absolute rip-off”.
Two winners matched all six numbers to share the jackpot prize of £720, 152.
Earlier this week, Two Little Fleas reported that a painter and decorator won more than £7 million on the lottery and the man will be sharing his winnings with his best friend and work colleague.
Willie Sibbald, from Edinburgh, matched all six numbers on his Lucky Dip ticket for Saturday’s Lotto rollover draw, scooping winnings of £7,084,472.
The 48-year-old broke the good news to his friend and colleague , Rab Layden, and they both handed in their notice yesterday following a pact that they would “see each other right” if one of them ever won the lottery.
Mr Layden, 57, also from Edinburgh, was at work painting a kitchen when he received the call. The pair, who decorated houses and commercial properties, then met and told bosses they would not be returning to work.
“He phoned me at 1.45pm and said ‘By the way I’ve got something to tell you, are you sitting down? I’m the guy that won the lottery’ – and I about collapsed,” Mr Layden said.
“I then met him at the yard and told the bosses at 2.40pm and retired five minutes later. Then we went for a pint.”
