Gambling Business Group have this week moved towards cashless operations.

In the UK, the Gambling Business Group this week took the first steps towards developing technical standards for cashless and ticketing operations.

A technical standard is an established requirement regarding technical systems. It is usually a formal document that outlines the methods required for the production of something.

The Group, led by CEO, Peter Hannibal, was launched a month ago.

The strategic gaming body has published two documents this week which outline the technical standards for a UK Machines Cashless and Ticketing Protocol.

One of the documents is for general web services, while the other extends the ccTalk technical standards that enable compatibility with current UK betting machines.

Mr Hannibal said: “For many years. UK machines operators have looked upon other jurisdictions who operate TITO and similar systems with envy. Dreams of lower service demands, reduced machines floats, zero refills and income improvements remained as just dreams. With the exception of the casino sector, the two significant blocks that stood in the way of the rest of the UK adopting a machines ticketing system had been the prohibitive cost – including licensing and the heterogeneous technology used by manufacturers.”

The two documents can be obtained by any organisation that might be interested in operating such a machine, or one that is interested in providing compatible components, systems and solutions.

Several of Britain major machine manufacturers, note validator and peripheral manufacturers, ticket printer suppliers, systems providers and solutions suppliers have all been actively involved in the process, including firms such as: Astra Games, Barcrest/SG Gaming, Bell-Fruit Games, Playsafe Embed, Project Coin, Future Logic, Eurocoin, GeWeTe, Innovative Technologies, and Merkur-Blueprint.

The documents are now in circulation and are intended to be used by the industry as a set of rules for cashless and ticketing.
