White and rosé wine deals

You may have found yourself thinking about white wine and chocolates a lot lately, and no wonder. Mother’s Day is on Sunday, 30th March, and all the shops have been stocking up on gifts to show your mum how grateful you are for all her hard work in raising you. Or you may just fancy a big bottle of Chardonnay at the end of the week.

Either way, Asda has a large selection of white and rosé wines available for just £5 or less each. It’s part of their “Just for You Mum” promotion, so you can expect the prices to remain that low until Mothers’ Day. So you’ve got more than a week to take advantage of the deal.

Red wine deals

Of course, not everyone wants the cheerful lightness of a white wine. Perhaps you and your mum prefer a nice, rounded red. Maybe you’re planning to cook your mum a thick, juicy steak for Mother’s Day. It could be that you want to have coq au vin.

Whatever the reason, if you’re in the market for bargain reds, head over to Sainsbury’s. They are having a “Drinks Festival”, which means they are cutting prices on red wines by 25%. This offer includes well-known brands like Jacob’s Creek and Turning Leaf, as well as Sainsbury’s own brand wines. It also extends to other alcoholic beverages, but the best deals can be found in the red wine section.

Lager and ale deals

Beer

As the weather keeps alternating between lovely, sunny days and cold snaps that put most of winter to shame, the kind of beer you want is likely to change, too. On the lush spring days, you want that ice cold lager, and nothing keeps the chill out like a warming ale. If you want a beer any time soon, you should head to Morrisons for your lager and ale. They don’t have an organised promotion on right now; instead, they just put together deals for beers across the board.

What does that mean for you? It means you can buy a selection of three bottles of ale for £5. It means you can get a case of 10 John Smith’s or Guinness for just £8. It means you can get two four-bottle cases of beers like Budweiser and Stella for just £6.

Spirits deals

Sometimes you just need a stiffer drink. From a whiskey nightcap to a cheeky cocktail on a girls’ night out, nothing quite hits the spot like a nice spirit. But with bottles of spirits easily topping £20 each, it’s crucial that you find the best deal, so you can keep both your drinks cabinet and your bank account as full as possible.

To that end, Tesco has been having a field day with deals on spirits. They are offering a mix and match deal of four alcohol mixed cans – including Pimm’s, Gordon’s gin and tonic and Smirnoff and cranberry mixed drinks – for £6, making them just £1.50 each. They have also dropped the prices of Bell’s and Famous Grouse whiskies, so you can save up to £4 on bottles, and they have taken £5.20 off the price of Green Mark vodka, taking it down to £18 per bottle. A bottle of three year old Havana Club rum is just £16, whilst a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin is just £18.
