Feeling crafty? Whether you’ve found a pile of old books in the attic, bought a Kindle or can’t stop buying old tomes from charity shops, here are 6 old book upcycling ideas to try out before your next game of no deposit online bingo!

1. Votive Jars

We love how pretty and atmospheric these beautifully simple votive candles are. Simple PVA glue your favourite pages around the outside of your glass votive, light your candle and let the candlelight shine through. We recommend using old books with thin pages and unusual pictures (a second hand book shop or charity shop hunt is in order!).

2. Pretty Prints

You can pick up heart shaped hole punches in most good craft stores – or you can make a template and cut out your chosen shape with a craft knife. Either way, these identical shapes make really pretty, personal art – perfect for a present. Why not use pages from your recipient’s favorite book or use an old dictionary and cut out words which mean something to them?

3. Book Bag

The arm candy du jour for any self-respecting bookwork! We absolutely adore this kooky book bag – and it’s surprisingly easy to make if you have an afternoon free. You’ll find the full tutorial here.

4. Book Art

If you have a particularly creative streak, why not create your very own book art? You’ll be amazed by the incredible sculptures and shapes book artists can make from old books. Here are some astonishing examples to inspire you!

5. Wordy Envelopes

Beautiful little envelopes which make your letters seem just a little more special! Making envelops yourself is pretty simple. Simply unfold an existing shop-bought envelop then copy its pattern to get the right size, shape and folds.

6. Laptop Cases

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any instructions for this particular upcycling project, but we loved it so much we simply had to share this upcycled old book laptop bag! If you are feeling particularly clever and fancy having a crack at this, why not share your instructions with our readers below?

Have you had a go at one of our other craft projects? We always love to hear about what our bingo babes have been busy with. Drop us a tweet @TwoLittleFleas or share your latest project in the comments section!
