In April, Kylie Minogue confirmed that she would not be returning as a judge/coach on The Voice. She is going on a massive world tour, and the dates of her tour clash with the filming dates, so she’s had to get out of that big red chair.
So what does that mean for The Voice? Will Kylie eventually return? And who could possibly take the place of Kylie?
When Kylie left
It all began on the 11th of April. On that day, Kylie tweeted, “#Lovers, due to timing of my tour I won’t be back next season for The Voice UK. Thanks to all who supported! Hope to see you on my KMO tour!”
KMO stands for Kiss Me Once, the name of the world tour.

She then went into more depth on her Facebook page, saying “Hi Lovers, thanks to all of you for your incredible support throughout this past season of The Voice UK.
“I’m sad to say that, due to the timing of my European Tour, I won’t be back for Season 4. I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ll miss all of the incredible people who were a part of my experience.
“I hope to see you all on my Kiss Me Once Tour and wish continued success to everyone at The Voice!
Love, Kylie.”
At the time, producers on the show paid tribute to her work, with executive producer Moira Ross saying Kylie “brought her own very special magic” to the singing competition. “We love having her on the show,” Ross went on to say. “We wish her well for her tour and hop to welcome her back in the future.”
Since then, Kylie has been preparing for her world tour, while the rest of the world wonders what will become of The Voice. After all, it had been going through a bit of a slump in the ratings, only getting a boost when Kylie joined the panel. With her departure, the show will need a suitably heavyweight entertainer to draw in not only the audience, but potentially the other judges: fellow judges Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am all have been quoting suggesting that they would leave the show if Kylie did.

Who could take Kylie’s place?
So who has the cache and showbiz weight to replace such an amazing entertainer as Kylie?
Well, so far the rumour mill has been pretty still. A lot of stories have mentioned Robbie Williams, but that would make an all-male panel, however, which seems pretty unlikely. So all these articles have also mentioned just about every British female singer, from Adele and Katy B to Leona Lewis and Jamelia. Some have even suggested Chris Martin, since he has been a guest judge/coach on the US show and he no longer has an American wife to keep him stateside.

Of course, that takes us back to the same problem that Robbie Williams throws up – unless another judge leaves the show as well.
But then again, the position might not be open for all that long. When she appeared on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Alan asked her if she might return to The Voice. She replied, “Not next season. I’ll know that I’ll miss it. When the next series comes around, I’ll be watching like all of you guys.”

Alan pushed the point, however, asking “So your tour finishes in November. What if the BBC jiggled around some filming dates? They did it for Jessie J, they could do it for you.”
To that, Kylie said, “Well… I just can’t go back next season as I am on tour, but the season after that… it’s an open book. Let’s see.”
Even executive producer Moira Ross suggested it was more a “hiatus” than a total break from the show. So that could mean that even the busiest singers – international entertainers like Leona Lewis and Adele – could potentially find the time to fill in for Kylie until Series Five.
So what do you think? Do you want Kylie to return to The Voice? And who would you like to see acting as judge and coach while she’s on a world tour? Let us know in the comments!
