In celebration of Pancake Day tomorrow, I’ve put together this super easy recipe for yummy Nutella & Strawberry pancakes. Pancake day is associated with the Christian Event, Shrove Tuesday because it was originally to use up rich foods such as milk, eggs and sugar before the 40 day fasting season of Lent.

In today’s culture, it is more of an excuse to have pancakes for dinner, so get the kids stuck in and enjoy pancake day with this recipe.

Ingredients for the Pancake recipe:

  • 200ml of milk
  • 110g of plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 25g of butter
  • 75 ml of water
  • 200g strawberries, sliced
  • Nutella

Method for the Pancakes:

  1. Put the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Then make well in the middle and break the eggs into it.
  2. Whisk the eggs making sure all the bits of flour from the edges are whisked away.
  3. Put the milk and water in a jug, gradually add small amounts to the mixture. Mixing well after each addition.
  4. Melt the butter in a medium frying pan, this will be where you are making the pancakes.
  5. Get the pan really hot, the turn the heat down to medium low and start with a test pancake.
  6. To make it easier use a ladle to scoop up the batter and pour it in the frying pan. Let the batter fry on one side for a minute or so before turning.
  7. Fry the other side. Place the pancake on a plate, now scoop a good tablespoon of Nutella and some strawberries.
  8. Enjoy and don’t eat too many 🙂
