Working in an office can be dull. The fluorescent lights, the drab carpet, the inoffensive beige walls and the rows of desks or individual offices that all look basically the same. All the machines and gadgets are practical, not pretty, and even the plant in the corner looks depressed.
Several companies have realised we want some of our office gadgets that do more than simply function. We want them to bring smiles to our faces. And this collection of the 10 cutest office gadgets will do just that.
Blob and Flow light pets (£38)
These “light pets”, which respond to your touch, take naps, wink at you and much more, aren’t technically functional, but they do give off soothing light and make waiting for your conference call to start more fun.

Sauna Boy USB humidifier (£13)
If you find the air conditioning in your office dries out your skin and hair too much, try this adorable little humidifier. You just fill him with water and watch the steam rise. You can add your favourite essential oils or perfume to the water, and he comes with other stickers, so you can give him a different face, if you want.

Brown Paper Bag lunch bag (£12.99)
Not every gadget has to be high-tech. This bag is made to look and feel like an ordinary paper bag, like Americans traditionally use, but in fact it is made of super-insulating Tyvek material that is also tear-proof and leak resistant. It has all the charm of brown paper, with the durability of high-tech materials.

INUKSHUK desk object (£24)
This tower of magnetic stones is named for the piles of stones Inuits would use for navigation and as points of reference. These stones are just as useful, though in a much more mundane setting. You can use them to store paperclips, photos, memos and business cards, or you could let your creative side out by stacking them in imaginative ways.

Cow USB Hub (£3.93)
Although we have more USB ports than ever, we also seem to have more devices that need to be connected through them than we have free. This cute little guy takes up one port but gives you four back, so you can connect your USB light pet, USB lava lamp and USB cup warmer and still have space for your USB-connected mouse.

Hetty desktop hoover (£11.99)
Hetty the Vacuum Cleaner, friend of the famous Henry the Vacuum Cleaner and people needing to hoover their houses everywhere, has been shrunk down to help you keep your desk free of crumbs and other detritus. Henry the Vacuum Cleaner is also available as a super-adorable baby hoover, but we think the powdery pink and long eyelashes of Hetty make her the cuter one.

USB light bulb lamp (£10.95)
When you are working all alone, late at night, you really need as much inspiration as you can get. Though it can’t give you any ideas on how to start that sales pitch or how to restructure the company website, it can bathe you in a comforting blue glow. And when you get an idea, it can act as the physical representation of that: just hold it over your head, and your colleagues will immediately see your brilliance.

Dusty Pup screen cleaners (£7.95)
No matter how fastidious you are, your computer screen will attract dust. When you are ready to clean it, you could use kitchen roll, which could damage the screen, or expensive, purpose-made cleaning cloths. If you’re going to spend the money anyway, you may as well spend it on one of these cuddly cleaners.

Small Treat Ball (£14.99)
If you need a treat in the afternoon to keep going – be it a healthy handful of almonds or tempting chocolate treats – you can store them with style and whimsy with this treat ball. Its colour and shape is reminiscent of old-timey gumball machines, but it actually uses some cool touch-sensitive technology to give you measured portions of whatever you prefer to snack on.

Cartoon notebook (£7.99)
Okay, technically, this isn’t a gadget. Very technically, it is just a plain notebook. But look at it – it really does look like a cartoon drawing, doesn’t it?

Those are our picks for the 10 cutest office gadgets. Which ones do you want in your office?
