Having made the transition from playing at her local bingo hall for some 20 years to playing online, Lynn is definitely our mama bingo. So perhaps not surprisingly, for Lynn, its not just about the snazzy features and the free games – it’s also about some good old fashioned socialising (although in rather high tech ways!)

Now, I’m not the most technologically minded online bingo player out there – not that I don’t know what I’m doing, more that I am not always so fussed about the latest and greatest new developments at bingo sites. Unless it involves something social that is. For whilst multi-gaming and side gaming and autodaub are all well and good, nothing really adds to my online bingo experience than a bingo site that knows how to stay social. Read on to find out why – and why it really does matter to you!

Social features (in my head anyways lol) mean stuff that will help you to interact a little better with your online bingo site – and the oh so lovely roomies that play at it. So that can be anything from offering chat games to going all out and finding ways to hook us roomies up (and believe me, there are all manners of ways this can happen!). Here’s a couple of reasons why it matters to both players and bingo sites to keep things social:

It’s good to win, but it’s great to talk

See, I might not be able to get a win everytime I play, so I need something else to make me feel a little more, well, included on the site. Chat features are great for this – and the best part is, a lot of bingo sites that offer chat games will also give you points for winning them. So not only can you start chatting to other players, you can also swap the points you accumulate for free bingo cards. It’s a win win situation.

I like, therefore I am

How much you interact with a site should also be a gauge (for that particular bingo site itself) of how much you like the site. Which is why some of my fave bingo sites have set up Facebook pages. Here, not only can I wax lyrical about how much I love my site, but I can also stay afloat with the latest promos and keep up to date with exclusive offers.

Show offs are always welcome

The social and interactive element not only pays dividends when it comes to chat games – some bingo sites will even run competitions where they deem one player roomie of the week based on how much they get involved in the site, and not just how much they wager. Then, there are also sites like Bingo Cams, who will award the roomie who has the best-recorded reaction when they win. Basically, bingo sites love it when you show off, giving you a chance to step into the spotlight and pick up prizes for doing so.

The more, the merrier

Of course, you can pick up things like bonuses for referring friends and being a little miss social yourself. But you can also pick up real friendships – and some bingo sites are also cottoning onto this, and offering up some fantastic online bingo meetups that start to capture a litte of that community feel that you used to get with offline bingo (remember that eh?!). From cruises to holiday camps, you can find ways to cement your friendships with your online buddies in the real world – something that will last a lot longer than your average bingo win. Although of course, the best thing about all these social features?? You still don’t have to compromise on the bingo…
