They say, “all good things must come to an end” and that’s exactly what’s going to happen to Cheeky Riches on March 17th, when they close their (online) casino doors for good. While the site may no longer be active beyond this date, you can still log into your account and play games right up until this deadline. The mobile friendly casino offered a wide choice of slots, casino games and even online bingo and was one of many sites owned and operated by Nektan Limited Casinos, the mobile-first white label online casino operator. So, why the closure?
Nektan, who were founded in 2011, had a turbulent 2021 with the Gambling Commission of Great Britain suspending its operating license for multiple money laundering and player safety failures. A statement from the UKGC read: “The license suspension, effective from 27 April 2021, makes it illegal for Nektan (Gibraltar) Limited to offer gambling services via its websites which are listed on the Commission’s public register.”
A year earlier in April 2020, Nektan re-entered administration having been forced to reappoint administrators after another failed attempt at securing investment for its business as a whole. A deal was made prior to this with ActiveWin (Grace Media) to acquire the B2C assets for £200K, which would be paid in monthly increments. Its B2B unit was snapped up by Real-Time Strategic Marketing Limited before being renamed Markor Technology.
Trading on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) was halted in 2020.
