Microgaming has recently announced that Leon Thomas – an industry veteran, has been appointed as managing director of bingo and with 10 years’ experience in the bingo field, he knows a thing or two about running a successful establishment.

Leon’s previous role was as Chief Commercial Officer at Instant Win Gaming (IWG); a specialist in the lottery and bingo industry. John Coleman, CEO at Microgaming said:

“We are pleased to welcome Leon to the Microgaming family. With his immense experience in online gaming and knowledge of both B2B and B2C industries, Leon will play a leading role as we continue to maximise the value, success and growth of our bingo vertical.”

Once managing director of one of Britain’s biggest online bingo brands – Tombola, Leon took the bingo operator to Spain and Italy. Prior to this, the newly appointed managing director of bingo also held senior positions at The Rank Group, Mecca Digital, Caesars, and NYX Gaming.

Microgaming appointed Thomas to spearhead the company’s headquarters in the Isle of Man and assumes responsibility for maximising the success and the profitability of the product by developing long-term business strategies to ensure the operator capitalises on commercial opportunities across a wide distribution base.

Thomas said:

“I am delighted to be appointed Managing Director of Bingo for one of the gaming industry’s foremost entertainment providers. Microgaming has a fantastic platform, and given its scale and reach, it is set to substantially grow the bingo side of its business.”

Who are Microgaming?

If you’ve ever played bingo at the likes of Butlers Bingo or 32Red Bingo, you will have already come across Microgaming, what with them being the driving force behind both of these popular brands. You can’t log in to an online casino or bingo website without a Microgaming slot appearing in the games lobby; games include Immortal Romance; a tale of forbidden love in the vampire world, Game of Thrones – based on the smash hit television series by HBO and the progressive jackpot title – Mega Moolah…
…this safari-themed slot made it into the Guinness World Record books in 2015 when a former soldier scooped the GBP equivalent of €17,879,645.12 from a 25p spin!
Established in 2004, Microgaming devised the first casino software and ten years later, created the first mobile casino. They may not live for awards, but they have some pretty impressive accolades, including;

  • Fifteen different awards in the EGR B2B Awards; from Poker Network 2018 to Highly Commended Live Casino Supplier back in 2013
  • Nine awards in the Awards for Excellence category, including The Sure Award for Workplace Wellbeing 2017 and The Hooded Ram Brewing Co Award for Company of the Year 2018
  • Four awards in the Global Gaming Awards: Digital Product for three years in a row; 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well as Digital Gaming Innovation in 2015
  • Three awards in the International Gaming Awards: Innovator of the Year 2016, Mobile Product of the Year 2017 and iGaming Software Supplier 2018.
