“I’m forever blowing bubbles…” – if your kids are too, they’re bound to love these 4 fascinating bubble projects, perfect for fun in the garden during the summer hols (leaving you free to peruse the best new bingo sites out there!). Best of all, these bubble projects are totally scientific (just ask your old physics teacher) which makes them the perfect educational (super fun) activity for kids to take back to the classroom come autumn.

1. Make a Paper Cone Bubble Blower

1. Cone

Let’s start with the simple pleasures, shall we? Bubble cones are the next step up from your conventional bubble wand. With a greater surface area, a cone will let you blow bigger bubbles even better! And the best bit? You can make one yourself with a simple sheet of good quality paper. Just roll your cone, make sure it has a flat, smooth edge, dip it into your bubble mixture and blow!

2. Blow Some Bubble Art

If your little ones love making a big mess, this bubble project is just the ticket. Fill a big bowl or washing up tub with water, fairy liquid and some food coloring. Next, arm your kids with straws and get them to blow into the mixture (make sure they don’t suck!). The tub should bubble up. Once you’re created enough colorful bubbles, place a thick piece of card over the top to pop them, leaving pretty bubble rings. Use a few bowls with different colors to make something really special!

3. Create Colorful Bubble Snakes

This is an absolutely amazing project any kid (and most mums and dads! )will love. You’ll need a few bits and pieces but you’ll probably have the lot lying about at home:

You will need:

  • An empty plastic bottle with the bottom cut off
  • Duct tape or an elastic band
  • A stray old sock
  • Washing up liquid
  • Food coloring

Cut the bottom off of your bottle and cover the open end by sliding your old sock over the bottle so that the sock is taught across the bottom. Secure the sock with duct tape or an elastic band. If you’d like to get messy, add some food coloring onto the bottom of the sock and you’re ready to go. Dip the sock end into your washing up liquid and water mix, then use the mouthpiece of the bottle to gently blow your creation into a colorful bubble snake!

4. Become a Human Bubble

What child wouldn’t want to become a human bubble?! If you have the time and equipment (and an outside area) available, this is a brilliant activity!

You will need:

  • A paddling pool
  • 19 L of water
  • 2.5 L of washing up liquid (not antibacterial)
  • a Hula Hoop

Make your bubble mixture in the paddling pool the night before the fun begins, then cover it over to stop leaves and garden stuff getting in overnight. When you’re ready to make your human bubble, float your hula hoop in the mixture, making sure it’s nice and covered. Leave it for a few minutes then get your first victim to stand in the middle. Get two people to hold either side of the hula hoop and lift it all the way up to trap your “guinea pig” in a brilliant human bubble! It might take a few goes to get it right, but it’s well worth the effort!
