Own brand loo roll may be your worst nightmare, but there are plenty of items you can buy as own brand which you’d never know cost substantially less than their branded alternatives, leaving you more pennies to play on your favorite  bingo sites with no deposit!

While we’re not recommending Aldi’s own foie gras, there are some real steals to be found if you know where to look. Here are a few of our absolute favourites…

1. Aldi’s Belmont Milk Chocolate Digestive Biscuits, 400g: £0.55p

Forget about McVities! Aldi’s own Belmont range do a very fine line in own brand biscuits. A similar pack from the branded equivalent will taste just the same and cost you up to three times the price of this supermarket own brand version. The lowest price we could find the “real thing” for was £1.00 for 300g.

2. Asda Smart Price Pancakes, 6: £0.29p

Even alternative own brand versions of these little drop scone pancakes will set you back closer to £0.60p, these very cheap pancakes from Asda are unbelievably inexpensive and very, very yummy indeed.

3.Morrisons Corn Flakes, 500g: £0.94p

500g of the real thing from Kelloggs will set you back £1.84, and we bet you anything you will not be able to tell the difference!

4.    LIDL OceanSea Smoked Salmon, Pepper with Horseradish Sauce, 200g: £1.99

Where else are you going to find 200g of smoked salmon for less than £2.00? Especially a variety which feels very much like high falutin’ gravadlax! This tastes like high class stuff, without the price tag.

5. Marks and Spencer 2 Syrup Sponge Puddings, 2: £1.84

M&S may not be your first port of call for a bargain, but these divine little sponge puddings will blow your mind. They’re not the cheapest you’ll find, but for not much money you’ll get a sublime pudding experience. Trust us, these are goooood.

6.    Co-operative’s Full Fat Soft Cheese, 200g: £0.75p

There are slightly cheaper own brand cream cheeses out there, but they can taste a little less than wonderful. This Co-op version tastes like Philly at a fraction of the price.

7. Asda’s 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand: £5.53p

Looking for a divine summery wine but don’t  want to pay through the nose? The dry, grassy tang of this own brand Sauvignon Blanc will leave you feeling pleasantly surprised at its mini price.
